Give A Fun Pocket Hello
& Receive A Smile In Return

Card #5 of my Playing In The Rain series is a brightly colored pocket card. This card once again features the Suite’s beaming bunny and more of the fun Rain or Shine DSP.

This is one of the easiest fun fold cards to create even though the directions may look daunting, so I hope you will give it a try and share your Pocket Card creation with me.

CREATE THE POCKET CARD

Fold the card base. The folded edge will be the bottom of the card. Determine the front panel.

Center the two front layers of Crumb Cake and Pattern #1 of DSP on the card base along the top edge.  (I have found it is easiest to prevent the layers from shifting while cutting by tucking a glue dot on the back of the top two layers.)

To create the front, measure 3/4″ down from the top along the left edge and make a light pencil mark. Measure 3” down from the top on the right edge and make a light pencil mark.

Line the pencil marks up with the groove on the trimmer and cut. Center the blade in the middle of the layers and sink the blade into the paper and cut. The side with the angled edges is the front of the card.

Arrange the card base so the straight edge at the top and the highest angle point is on the left edge. Then adhere the inside 4” x 5 1/4” piece of Crumb Cake to the inside panel.  In the corner of the mat adhere the small right corner piece of DSP.

Adhere Tear & Tape along the outer edge of the card front (Remember, the folded edge is the bottom of the card so the back of the card front and will become the inside of the pocket.)

Flip card base over so decorated interior mat in face down and angled edges are at the top. Decorate the card front with the matching Crumb Cake and DSP layers. Then flip card base back over.

Add Tear & Tape to the back of the card front. Remove backing and run the piece of Burlap Ribbon along the top diagonal edge of the card front and adhere to the back. Place another small piece of Tear & Tape over both ends of the ribbon. This will ensure the card seals properly to card base. (Using the Silicone Craft Sheet prevents the Tear & Tape from sticking to anything.)

Center a gift card on the back of the card base. Fold card front over the card and seal the card front to card back. (By placing the card in the center of the back panel before securing the front, space is being added to the pocket for easy insertion and removal of the sentiment card.)

Using the Playing In The Rain Die, cut the bunny from the Rain or Shine DSP, or stamp and color the bunny from the Playing in the Rain Stamp Set and then die cut.

Die cut the two tags using the two tag dies from the Something Fancy Dies. Use the DSP for the larger tag and Crumb Cake for the smaller tag.

Lightly rub the Crumb Cake tag with the Embossing Buddy.

Stamp the sentiment from the Garden Birdhouses set with VersaMark Ink.

Sprinkle sentiment with White Embossing Powder. Remove any unwanted embossing powder with the brush from the Embossing Additions Kit.Set with the heat tool.

Dry arrange the tags and the bunny on the card base. When happy with placement flip all piece over and add dimensionals to the back then adhere to card front. (I always add a Glue Dot to the back of layer pieces, which prevents them from slipping around while still allowing me to adjust their placement.)

Tie a bow with the Burlap Ribbon and add it on top of the tags over the ribbon on the card base.

Add 2 large and 1 small  Flat Backed Pearls.

CREATE SENTIMENT SHEET

Stamp the interior sentiment approximately 2″ from the top edge of the Basic White sentiment card.

Adhere the Pattern #2 DSP strip to the top edge.

Punch both corners with the slanted corner punch of the Very Best Trio Punch.

Rotate the punch, center DSP under the hole punch, and punch.

Thread a piece of Burlap Ribbon through the hole and arrange ends.

Add a Glue Dot to the back of the front ribbon piece making sure that it can’t be seen.

Add a large Flat Baked Pearl on the ribbon over the hole.

Adhere some cut out flowers from the DSP in the bottom right corner. Don’t have the DSP? Simply stamp the flowers instead.

Don't forget to decorate the envelope!

The envelope is the where the excitement of receiving
snail mail begins.

I simply decorated this envelop by I stamping the bunny in the front lower left corner of the envelop and adhering a piece of the matching DSP to the flap.

Other ways to decorate an envelope include:

  • Dry emboss the envelope flap.
  • Stamped the envelope flap, front lower left corner, or across the bottom.
  • Adhere DSP along the front left edge and/or across the bottom.
  • Die Cut a label out of DSP large enough to adhere a mailing label of the addressee on it and still see the design of the DSP peaking out around the edges of the mailing label.
