Now let’s create!

I am so excited about today’s card. I fell in love with the Saint Nicholas Bundle. Then I saw the Traditions of St. Nick DSP and fell in love with it. It wasn’t just one or two pieces I liked. I really liked both sides of all pieces of paper equally.

This particular piece of DSP jumped out at me and I thought this would make a lovely
DSP Highlighting Fun Fold card.

Colors for this card include: Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler, and Moody Mauve

PREP THE CARD

  • Select you DSP of choice.
  • Select your coordinating color of card stock for the card base.
  • Cut card stock and DSP according to measurements listed below.
  • Do all your stamping, die cutting, and embossing.
  • For this card:
~Die cut a St. Nick out of the Traditions of St. Nick DSP using the Saint Nicholas Dies.
~Die cut die #4 of the Countryside Dies out of Mossy Meadow.
I count my dies from largest to smallest with the largest die being #1.
    ~
Heat emboss the sentiment from the Saint Nicholas stamp set on the left side and centered from top to bottom on the Mossy Meadow label with white embossing powder.
Need a heat embossing refresher, see below

ASSEMBLE CARD

  • Fold and score your card base.
  • Cut off the front panel of the card base 3/4″ below the score line.
  • Adhere DSP to the back side of the front card base strip with the side you want as the cover facing up.
DSP can be adhered to either the back or front of the strip depending on the look you want. I choose to adhered my DSP to the back of the strip because I wanted the highlight of Mossy Meadow to coordinate with my label and my St. Nick.

Below you will see a sample of a 2nd card I created with the DSP adhered to the front of the strip.
2 completely different looks neither is wrong. You do you!

Decorate Your Card

  • Decorate the card anyway you like. For this card I:
  •  Adhered the St. Nick to the right side of the label.
  • Added dimensionals to the back side of the focal image.
  • Adhered the focal image toward the bottom of the card front.
  • Wrapped a piece of Moody Mauve Textured ribbon around the card base, tied it in a knot, and positioned it over the Mossy Meadow strip.
  • Added 3 2023-2025 In Color Dots in Moody Mauve to the card front.

Suggestions if you don’t like the card base strip showing:
~Wrapped a piece of ribbon around the card base strip and make sure it is positioned
over the seam to give it a more unified look.
~Add a piece of coordinating DSP to the card base strip making sure to leave a
tiny margin of mat around it.

ASSEMBLE THE INSIDE

  • Adhere the strip of DSP #1 to the bottom of the Basic White mat.
  • Adhere the remaining punched image, centered, to the bottom of the mat.
  • Adhere the Basic White mat to the Calypso Coral mat and add compiled mat to the inside of the card base.

Don’t forget to decorate the envelope!

The fun of receiving snail mail begins with the envelope.

I decorated this envelope by stamping the coordinating image in the front, lower left corner of the envelope. Then I stamped the envelope flap multiple times with the image of candy canes, gingerbread men and warm cider.

Other ways to decorate an envelope include:

  • Dry emboss the envelope flap.
  • Stamped the envelope flap, along the left edge, or across the bottom.
  • Adhere DSP along the front left edge and/or across the bottom.
  • Die Cut a label out of DSP large enough to adhere a mailing label of the addressee on it and still see the design of the DSP peaking out around the edges of the mailing label.

CARD #2

This card I created with product from the August 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Meaningful Flowers. The cover piece was actually the inside of the card base, but I wanted to use it as the front of my card. I chose to use the DSP Highlighting Fun Fold because I wanted the symbolism of the for-get-me-not flower to be seen by my recipient.

For this card I choose to adhere the DSP to the front of the strip because I didn’t want to hide any of the graphics on the front of the card. I also cut the strip a bit thinner to make sure none of the text was covered.

MEASUREMENT CARD # 1

  • Card base, Mossy Meadow – 4 1/4″ X 11″ score @5 1/2″
  • Traditions of St. Nick DSP – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″

HEAT EMBOSSING TECHNIQUE

  1. Rub Embossing Buddy over the cardstock.
  2. Stamp the sentiment or image in VersaMark Ink.
  3. Sprinkle sentiment or image with embossing powder and tap off.
  4. Brush off embossing powder that is stuck in places you don’t want it with a stiff bristled brush.
