Let’s Go Fishing DSP Quilt Card

Quilting is an art of understanding technology, fabrics, color, storytelling and love, and
are often passed down through the generations. I have been blessed to receive handmade quilts by wonderful friends at various times in my life and I cherish them.

Quilting is an art that it allows you to mix colors and patterns,  producing a beautiful
work of art in the process. So why not make these beautiful works of art out of our gorgeous DSP.

To create this basic quilt pattern Anna and I chose to use the Let’s Go Fishing DSP.

Follow the steps below to create your own quilt card.

MEASUREMENT

  • Card Base – 11″ x 4 1/4″
  • Mat 1 – 5 1/4″ x 4
  • DSP Squares, 8 – 1 1/4″
  • Mat 2 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
  • Mat 3 – 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″
  • Mat 4 – 2 ” x 2″

FRONT

  • Adhere the small squares to mat 1 by laying 4 squares down the left edge and 2 more squares across the top and bottom edges. Don’t forget to leave mat edge showing.
  • Adhere mat 1 to card base.
  • Stamp the exterior sentiment on the 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ label. (2″ x  2″ mat if you are CASing my card). Stamp any other images or backgrounds on the mat at this time.
  • Adhere to the 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ mat and add dimensionals to the back of the compiled mat.
  • Adhere Linen Thread to the lower left corner of the compiled sentiment square.
  • Adhere to card base in the empty space on the card base.
  • Continue to decorate with die cuts or embellishments as desired.

INSIDE

  • Stamp the sentiment on the interior mat and decorate.
  • Adhere to the inside of card base when complete.

Anna stamped the bottom of hers to coordinate with her fish theme. The water was created using a stamp from the Inked & Tiled stamp set using Boho Blue ink. She then lightly added more Boho Blue ink with a Blending Brush. My inside was a little more simple. I just added a piece of DSP at the bottom.

Don’t forget to decorate the envelope!

The fun of receiving snail mail begins with the envelope.

Our matching envelopes were decorated by adding a piece of matching DSP to the flap and stamping images on the front and Anna also stamped part of an extra fish on the back to make it look like it was swimming with the fish on front.

Other ways to decorate an envelope include:

  • Dry emboss the envelope flap.
  • Stamped the envelope flap, front lower left corner, or across the bottom.
  • Adhere DSP along the front left edge and/or across the bottom.
  • Die Cut a label out of DSP large enough to adhere a mailing label of the addressee on it and still see the design of the DSP peaking out around the edges of the mailing label.
