It’s Graduation Time!
Say Congrats with
the Bright & Beautiful Suite

May and June are the months when college and high school graduations occur. In May my beautiful niece graduate from the University of Texas-Austin with a degree in Fine Arts. End of May and beginning of June I saw 2 of my boys graduate from high school. One will be attending Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, and the other will be attending University of Wisconsin- Platteville in Platteville, WI.

Today’s card is a graduation card designed using the Bright & Beautiful Suite and the school colors of one of my kids. Hope this gives you inspiration for creating your own graduation card for that special human in your life.

Colors for this card include Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, and Fresh Freesia, a 2021-2023 retiring In Colors that was included as a core color.

This card is built horizontally. (Score at the top.) Please refer to the photos if you have questions about stamping, die cut, and mat placement.

Begin by cutting all pieces according to the measurement section above.

Stamping

  • Stamp 1 large balloon in Gorgeous Grape, 2 medium balloons in Highland Heather, and 1 medium balloon in Fresh Freesia on Basic White scrap.
  • Stamp the sentiment using VersaMark ink on Highland Heather scrap. Sprinkle ink with white embossing powder and heat set it. Cut the edges of the sentiments label at an angle.
  • Stamp 3 medium balloons in Gorgeous Grape on the left edge of the interior Basic White mat. Stamp the strings.
  • Stamp the interior sentiment in Gorgeous Grape.
  • Ink up the confetti stamp in a different color then stamp it 3 times in the upper left corner around the balloons and once in the lower right corner. Re-inking and stamping off before each stamp.

Die Cut & Emboss

  • Position and secure the coordinating dies to the 4 balloon images stamped on Basic White scrap.
  • Secure the Alphabet A La Mode Dies to Gorgeous Grape Scrap.
  • Insert the Basic White Exterior mat into the Timeworn Type 3D EF.
  • Run all through the SCEM. Repeat as necessary.

Build the Card

  • Adhere the DSP to the coordinating Highland Heather mat.
  • Adhere the Highland Heather compiled mat to the left side of Basic White exterior mat so approximately 1/4″ of the Basic White mat is exposed on the left edge.
  • Arrange first then adhere the letters to the Basic White exterior mat.
  • Center the sentiment label along the bottom, beneath the words and adhere with dimensionals.
  • Layout the balloon with out securing. Then adhere the large balloon and 1 medium balloon with liquid glue. Adhere the other 2 balloons with dimensionals.
  • Adhere completed mat to card base.
  • Add embellishments to 3 balloons and the sentiment label. (6 embellishments total.)

Build the Inside

  • Adhere interior mat to card base.

Don't forget to decorate the envelope!

The envelope is the where the excitement of receiving
snail mail begins.

I simply decorated this envelope by adding 2 tiny balloon die cuts that I had to the envelope flap and stamped a large balloon in the front lower left corner.

Other ways to decorate an envelope include:

  • Add a piece of DSP to the the envelope flap.
  • Dry emboss the envelope flap.
  • Stamped the envelope flap, front lower left corner, and/or across the bottom.
  • Adhere DSP along the front left edge and/or across the bottom.
  • Die Cut a label out of DSP large enough to adhere a mailing label of the addressee on it and still see the design of the DSP peaking out around the edges of the mailing label.
