Brewed for You Presents
Beachy Birthday Card
My niece turns 21 this Saturday! She grew up on the beaches of the Philippines and moved back to the USA for collage. I created this beachy
card because I know she would rather be celebrating her 21st birthday on one of her favorite beaches instead of dealing with the cold breezes of Chicago, IL, so I wanted to give her that warm beach-side vibe.
Techniques Used
Watercolor Beach Background
I began by water coloring the card front beginning with the beach and using the Sahara Sand and Soft Suede inks. Then I added the water using the Pacific Point and Tahitian Tide inks. The sunset was created by laying a light Crushed Curry base over the remaining page. I built the Crush Curry coloring with more depth near the water. I added Calypso Coral to the top 1/4 of the sky until I was satisfied with the depth of color. Finally, I mixed in a little Melon Mambo at the very top and in spots a bit lower.
On the inside mat I added the sunset feature on the left sit of the mat to give the warm, glowing feeling captured on the front.
Then once the beverages were stamped and heat embossed I added color to the to them.
The key to water coloring, start with diluted colors, drying the paper with a heat tool between layers, so you know if you need to add more color and where it is needed.
Heat Embossing
I completed all stamping with the Stamparatus. Stamping on watercolor paper repeat stamping to get solid ink coverage for the stamped image espeically is images are to be heat embossed.
The bottles were stamped with VersaMark ink multiple times to ensure smooth coverage of the ink, so the embossing powder would completely cover and stick to the stamped area allowing for the smooth melting of powder without blemishes once heated. I then embossed them with black embossing powder. Don’t forget to use your embossing buddy to ensure the powder only sticks where you want it.

Take time to decorate the inside of your creation no matter how simple because it will show how much you care for the individual receiving it.
I simply water colored the left edge of the interior mat to imitate the sunset feature on the front of the card.
Don’t for get to decorate the envelop because that is where the joy of receiving snail mail begins!
